BIOGRAPHY
The young, german soprano, Lavinia Dames, studied as a student of the ”Institute for the Early Advancement of the Musically Highly Gifted (IFF)“ at the University of Music Hanover under professor Gerhard Faulstich. She continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna under professor Gabriele Lechner and professor Peter Edelmann, where she graduated with distinction in 2014.
Lavinia’s awards include a prize at the Cantilena singing competition in Bayreuth in 2009 and the International Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition in 2012. In 2011, she won the first prize of the ”Internationales Kärntner Sparkassen Musikstipendium“. In addition, she received the audience award.
Her repertoire includes Haydnˋs ”Creation“, Mahlerˋs 2nd and 4th symphony and Brahms ”German Requiem“ along with the Göttinger Symphonie Orchester, the Dortmund Philharmonics, the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra. In November 2019 she sang Betty in ”Zum Groß-Admiral“ at the Prinzregententheater Munich with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester.
Next season 2020/21 she will return to the Konzerthaus Dortmund with Mendelssohn ”Ein Sommernachtstraum“ and a Mozart-Matinee.
Since the opera season 2014/15, Lavinia has been a full-time member of the ensemble of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, performing roles like Susanna in ”Le nozze di Figaro“, Zerlina in ”Don Giovanni“, Pamina in ”Die Zauberflöte“, Gretel in ”Hänsel und Gretel“, Norina in ”Don Pasquale“, Max in Oliver Knussens ”Where the wild things are“ and many more. In 2019 she starred in the world premiere of Anno Schreiers new opera ”Tis Pity She´s a Whore“.
Next season she will also perform Fradl in Weinbergs ”Mazel Tov“ and Julia in Blachers ”Romeo und Julia“.
As a guest she sang Lauretta in Puccinis Gianni Schicchi and Pamina at the Komische Oper Berlin, Susanna at the Kungliga Operan Stockholm as well as at the royal Theater Kopenhagen. In November 2017 she made her debut as Isotta in Strauss ”Die schweigsame Frau“ at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich. In April 2019 she starred as Adina in ”L´elisir d´amore“ at Theater St.Gallen.
2021 she will sing Grace in the World Premiere of Gordon Kampe‘s new opera ”Dogville“ at the Aalto Musiktheater Essen.
